Description:
The fisherman Wilson Manuba picture is one of the victims of the mining industry on Marinduque, Philippines. He has lost one leg and has large wounds that won’t grow because of heavy-metal poisoning. “Despite everything, I manage to get up and work for my family. I’m still fishing, but sometimes I don’t have the strength to crawl the two kilometres down to the sea. It is really difficult, especially when it’s raining,” the fisherman recounts. Photo taken summer 2007.
